About the Event

The IEEE UMaT Student Branch Meetup, Mentorship, and Networking event is a flagship gathering organized alongside ICSSID 2026. The event brings together students, professionals, researchers, and industry stakeholders to foster collaboration, mentorship, and innovation.

A key highlight of the event is the Humanitarian Technologies Board (HTB) training focused on community-driven projects. Participants will be introduced to IEEE programs such as SIGHT, EPICS in IEEE, and MOVE, with practical guidance on developing impactful community projects and accessing funding opportunities.

Objectives

  • Promote IEEE membership and student engagement
  • Provide mentorship and professional networking opportunities
  • Train participants on humanitarian technology and community projects
  • Support development of fundable Tech4Good solutions

HTB Training Focus

  • Introduction to IEEE Humanitarian Technologies (HTB)
  • How to develop community-based technology solutions
  • Project design using SIGHT and EPICS frameworks
  • Accessing IEEE funding and grants for community projects
  • Impact measurement and sustainability strategies

Engr Dr Ezekiel Mensah Martey Event Lead Experienced in organizing IEEE events, academic conferences, and student development programs; provides leadership and technical direction for the meetup and HTB training sessions.
Engr Sitti Mensah IEEE Ghana Section Chair (Advisor) Provides strategic oversight, institutional coordination, and support for IEEE activities across Ghana; extensive experience in professional engineering leadership and IEEE programs.
Dr Maxwell Addison Young Professionals Chair & HTB Representative Leads IEEE Young Professionals activities and supports Humanitarian Technologies Board initiatives; experienced in mentorship, Tech4Good projects, and community engagement.
Mr Frederick Broni Ghana Section Membership Development Chair Leads membership growth initiatives within IEEE Ghana Section; experienced in recruitment strategies, member engagement, and professional development programs.
Billy James Dega IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group Chair Promotes diversity and inclusion in engineering; leads initiatives to support and empower women in engineering through mentorship, outreach, and professional development programs.
Anastasia Oheneba Duah IEEE UMaT Student Branch President Leads student branch activities, coordinates IEEE programs on campus, and drives student engagement, outreach, and professional development initiatives.
Antoniette Nelson Baidoo UMaT-SRID Representative Represents student research and innovation development; supports coordination of student engagement, research dissemination, and participation in IEEE initiatives.
